What does it mean to be American?
The United States is divided. That division goes back to partisan politics blooming not long after its founding, but there’s no question emotions are heightened around how people define America and its role in the world. There are more than 300 million citizens, richly diverse in their heritage, cultures and creeds.
This 4th of July, we were celebrating the nation’s 241st Birthday. All over in the country people were having parades, barbecues, parties, and of course beautiful fireworks.
Here in Las Vegas, my husband and I chose the Summerlin Patriotic Parade in the morning and the Red Rock Hotel and Casino’s fireworks in the evening. The feeling and the atmosphere was just perfect to celebrate America’s Birthday.
I am in love with the ”American feeling”. I love this country. I love the bright huge cities, and that all of them are different. I love the small towns, the countryside, the Ocean, the beaches, andthe moun tains. I love the freedom and the positive energy and attitude everywhere.
America has always represented opportunity for a better life.
However we are dealing with serious political issues every day. I think America should represent to the World, ”peace, love and equality for all”.
For you my dear Reader, what does it mean being American?
