The Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree

A 78-foot tall Christmas Tree was lifted into place at Rockefeller Center on Friday, signaling the start of the holiday season in New York City.

The 2015 tree will be lit for the first time on Wednesday, December 2 at Rockefeller Plaza, between West 48th and 51st Streets and Fifth and Sixth Avenues. Each year tens of thousands crowd the sidewalks for the event and hundreds of millions watch the live broadcast.

The Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree is a large Christmas tree placed annually in Rockefeller Center, in Midtown Manhattan.
