
June 21, 2015 is International Yoga Day. Grab your mats and towels and get ready to stretch.
India’s External Affairs Minister, Ms. Sushma Swaraj, will lead the events at the United Nations in New York. UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon will attend. He is taking yoga lessons in preparation for the day, according to The Hindu newspaper.
Yoga in the United States keeps growing in popularity. It is estimated that there are almost 30 million practitioners in the U.S., alone. Popular yoga styles range from gentle Hatha Yoga to intense Hot Yoga.
After the breakup of the Soviet Union in 1989, yoga again became popular in Hungary, as well as other Eastern European countries. There are now many studios, retreats, spas, and fitness centers offering yoga to locals and visitors.
