Mother’s Day is a modern celebration honoring one’s own mother, as well as motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society. It is celebrated on various days in many parts of the world, most commonly in the months of March or May.
Mother’s Day in the United States is annually held on the second Sunday of May, in Hungary on the first Sunday of May. In the United States, in 1872, Julia Ward Howe called for Mother’s Day to be celebrated each year to encourage pacifism and disarmament amongst women.
It continued to be held in Boston for about ten years under her sponsorship, but died out after that.
In Hungary it was hold in 1925 at the first time by the Hungarian Red Cross.
HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!
