Malaysia keeps using Flight 17

Malaysia Airlines hasn’t retired flight number 17 after one of its planes was shot down Thursday using that number, despite halting the use of the number of its missing flight from March and the common practice after other airline disasters.

The latest Flight 17 took off Friday from Amsterdam at 12:19 p.m. local time on its way to Kuala Lumpur, according to FlightAware.com, a flight-tracking service. The flight flew around Ukraine to the south.

The flight came a day after a flight with the same itinerary was shot down over eastern Ukraine with 298 people aboard. The investigation of who is responsible and why is still being organized.
